So yeah. I am sooooooo fucking bored here at school that I'm posting HERE again after, like, nine million months.

Happy New Year?

So why haven't I been here? I got lazy, distracted, and PISSED OFF at school. Last semester sucked ass, and I while I ended up getting good grades, I had to drag myself every step of the way. (Being in an Illustration major apparently doesn't involve much illustrating.) Additionally, it didn't help that for the last three months, every waking thought was devoted to The Orange Box, which I finally was able to receive on the last day of school.

Winter break. I got another job again (which is really, really nice), and a super-sexy Intuos3 6X8 for Christmas. That headline was just barely overshadowed by instantaneous addiction to and non-stop playing of GREATEST GAME EVER, Team Fortress 2.

Evidence of the rampant mischief caused by both of those things can be seen at my deviantART.

But enough about me. If any of my friends out there are reading this, I would like to apologize for my absence. SORRY, SORRY, SORRY! D: D: D:

TEH SHOOTAN GAEMS! THEY CONSUME ME!

Fuck. Now, I want to play Team Fortress 2 so bad...

Man, I've been M.I.A. since the start of July, haven't I? I sort of dropped off the face of the earth after I got laid off from Jimmy John's, and don't even get me started on this horrid, epic artist's block... (More like black hole.)

After having been fired from said job, (I don't think I was doing poorly; my schedule prolly didn't suit them well enough) the sudden stop in the money was a big blow, and I had to refrain from the spending I had only just gotten used to doing again. Over the course of the month, I only allowed to get myself the next DVD of Le Chevalier D'eon (awesome anime) and a Transformers robit (a plushie! literally called "Softimus Prime"; it's freakin' adorable). A divine stroke of luck landed me a free iPod nano via a Chicago Cubs contest.

While running an errand with my dad, he mentioned that Lollapalooza-- giant music festival in Grant Park on the south end of the Loop in Chicago-- was to take place in a week. I exasperated as loud as I could in an enclosed car, for I was utterly convinced that it was to take place at the end of this month, August. Needless to say, the first thing I did when I came back home was purchase a ticket for it online.

I had a decision to make. Since my bank account only contained ninety or so dollars, and a one-day ticket was $80, I could only just afford to go for one day. (It's a three-day festival.) Either I'd go the Friday and see Daft Punk, or go Saturday and see Muse.

It was an easy choice.

For most of the remaining week, I was still as mopey as I had been for a month. I busied myself with the final Harry Potter book (awesome, by the way). But it wasn't until the day before the festival that the excitement really began to sink in. I was about to go downtown, be amongst thousands of people, and see one of my all-time favorite performers live!

So the next day, my dad dropped me off at the yellow line L station, and I traveled the very familiar route down to the south end of the Loop. When I got off, I had some lunch and followed the steady stream of festival-goers to Grant Park. Right away, I could hear the music blaring, and I could tell that this was going to be a very loud experience. The ear plugs my dad gave me would come in very handy throughout the day.

After a bit of aimless wandering, I purchased a Daft Punk t-shirt and floated over to where the group The Polyphonic Spree was to perform. It was an entirely random decision to see them, but it totally paid off. I was very impressed by their sound and their energy. Although they're classified as indy-rock, their music is very joyful, not angry or depressing. Additionally, their lead singer reminded me of a professor I had last semester, and when the band came out into the audience, I got to give him a high five!

From then on until the main attraction, I pretty much just waited around. I secured myself a really good position no more than fifteen or twenty yards in front of the stage, and just slightly to the left of the center of it. I would have been even closer, but I would have felt sheepish being right up at the stage during the previous act, a band I knew nothing about. However, it seemed that most people up by the stage were, like me, only there waiting for Daft Punk to perform.

So when the previous band finished, a giant curtain was drawn across the stage, and the audience gave a little cheer, because we knew it was only a matter of time until it would open again to reveal our heroes. The sun was setting fast; the day had been pretty hot, so it felt good to be out of the heat. Besides, there was a very good reason why this performance had to take place at night.

People began to really pack in, so my awesome position in front of the stage was getting a little blocked. Eventually, we were all pretty much shoulder to shoulder, and you could really feel the excitement as the clock winded down to 8:30. The muzak they had playing on the loudspeakers finally died down, but the curtains remained closed.

I began to freak out. I was literally jumping up in down in anticipation. This was it. Then, the loud speakers blared the little alien ditty from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and everyone went wild! It was played again, and we went wild, then again, and finally...

The Robots have landed!

SEE HERE FOR THE AWESOME )

The last song before their encore was "Human After All". It's a really exciting song, so the audience was really riled up. Daft Punk's pyramid flashed pictures of all sorts of people as the music began to gain a fever pitch. Then, they both held up their hands in the air, making a triangle shape out of their thumbs and index fingers. We all in the audience followed suit. (Clearly, the triangle is a very important shape for Daft Punk.)

If you haven't bothered seeing any of my videos, at least see this one for "Human After All"!

Even though the song finished, the music stopped, and they left the stage, we all knew something was up. We clapped and cheered and chanted, waiting for their inevitable return to the stage. Then, after a few minutes, they did!

By this time, however, my shitty camera's ancient form of memory storage copped out on me, and I could not take any more pictures. This was a damn crying shame, because Daft Punk literally lit up like neon signs, their clothes and helmets lined with light. Then, at the very end, they both turned around and lit up on their backs was the Daft Punk logo! We all lost our ever-loving minds.

And then it was over. It never occurred to me to look behind my back and see just how many people there really were at this concert, but as we were all streaming out of the park, I could tell there were thousands. I wonder if they felt the same as I did after the concert, the same awe and excitement...

All I could do was pull out Camille (my iPod) and start jamming to "One More Time". (I have all Daft Punk's albums on Camille.)

Eventually, my daddy picked me up at Union Station. He's the sort of guy who's been to many concerts, especially Rolling Stones ones, and he was glad to see that I had such a great time at Lollapalooza. He mentioned to me that most concerts I'll see will never be as good as this one, and I totally agree with him. How any of the other acts at the festival could match this one is beyond me.

For days after such an unbelievable experience, I was still so riled up I couldn't sleep. One night, I even had to take some Niquil in order to knock myself out! I wish you could know just how much this concert had affected me... I am definitely going to see these guys again someday, somehow.

Well, I think that's about it for my Lollapalooza story. Tomorrow, my mom, dad, and I are going to be on our way to Colorado for a little R&R, so look forward to some pictures of those beautiful, beautiful Rockies. Please stay cool, friends, and know that I've missed you all in my absence!

DAY 1

While watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society on my Xbox in the basement, I noticed an almost inaudible buzzing. Then, beside me on the folding table, appeared a small, black house fly. I shooed it away, for it was disturbing my precious-as-oxygen Ghost experience. Not much later, however, it landed at my elbow again, and I decided it was time for action. Taking up the case to a particularly bad Xbox game, I attempted to smash the little bugger with it, only to miss it by millimeters.

Several times over the course of the night, I would seek the fly's death, only to fail each time.

DAY 2

I had two friends over. We congregated to the basement since it's where the computer and video game consoles are. Unfortunately, it's also where that damnable fly was, too. Now, its sly sneaking about is replaced by unabashed dive-bombing of an and all humans in the room, which has a notable odor about it due to the pump room. We all take turns at trying to assassinate it, but to no avail. This small, elusive foe continues to thrive, perhaps spurred on by the pump room's stench...

DAY 3

Today. I came downstairs to surf the Net and eat my breakfast caesar salad. Almost immediately, I was bombarded by the same fly that has been the torment of our basement for two days now. Although the smell from the pump room is all but gone thanks to an air purifier, the little motherfucker still has not let up. As I type, it has attempted to lodge itself into my bedhead hair.

This battle has made me weary, and I fear I might be the loser in the end.

Yesterday, I finally got my grubby fan girl paws on the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society special edition DVD.

I believe I can neatly summarize my feelings about it in the following image.

But still.

I FUCKING LOVE GHOST IN THE SHELL AND I FUCKING LOVE TOGUSA.

I haven't updated for a while, but lots of crazy crap has happened.

1. My grades for last semester were all As and one B.
2. I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3 two times. Yay for Johnny Depp!
3. A close friend of mine confessed his love for me.
4. My sister, Angie, gradu-ma-lated high school.
5. I has a job again!
7. I've almost finished my first evar gay pr0n drawring. D:
8. I think I might be getting carpal tunnel syndrome.

I guess some of those would be really good to talk about in length, but first...

IM IN UR ROOM, WATCHING U SLEEP

It's three in the fricking morning! What do you want?! >:U

Yeah, so one of my best friends admitted that he's in love with me. I don't return the feelings, but I'm glad he said how he felt because it's bad for everyone when no one says anything. It's kinda awkward between us right now, but I have the feeling everything is going to be alright in time. I don't want to lose our friendship because it means a lot to me! There's a lot I need to do before I can consider finding a boyfriend...

In lighter news, my lil' sister graduated high school! Yay for Angiez! <3 <3 <3 I'm so proud of her. She's t3h coooooollllest. She's planning on going to community college to learn the culinary arts. Tasty!

Additionally, I've recently been hired at my local Jimmy John's. This is a vast improvement over my last job at HomeGoods (or as I call it, HomeBads), where I had to pander to fangry housewives who wanted to buy ugly shit for their homes. That, and if I could, I would hook the Jimmy John's #14 sandwich to my veins. My first day was Monday, and boy, was I nervous! I didn't have to make any sandwiches, but I did take orders off the phone. Except for one guy, everyone was patient with me. And my manager and coworkers are totally awesome dudes, so that really helps a lot!

Shit. I really should be getting some sleep right now because I have work at 11. But this Batman: The Animated Series DVD I borrowed from the library is a-calling my name... Bats FTW!

[EDIT - Several hours later...] So much for sleep or Bats. Look at what I drew instead!

My sister, Angie, says "Hi". :3

Anyway, I've finally been able to start enjoying my summer vacation. That first week was pretty much void due to anime convention and my having to work on an overdue Flash animation for one of my classes. (That's the Speckled Band one. I might possibly think about maybe considering the thought of posting it one day for you guys.)

So needless to say, I'm pretty sick of looking at Holmes and Watson for now. I went ahead and indulged myself in another favorite drug of mine, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, 'cause I loves my Togusa. <3 <3 <3 I also dropped by the library for some hot DVD action, and picked up some more Jeeves & Wooster, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Sleepy Hollow.

That brings me to the other topic of this journal: my movie journal. This summer, I have made it my goal to see all the movies I have not seen but really, really should. Two of my good friends have composed lists of films for me to see, and while going through them, I intend to keep a journal concerning each movie I see. First up is The Royal Tenenbaums!

Boy, do I adore Wes Anderson's directing style! It's definitely unlike any other I've seen. The Royal Tenenbaums is an excellent example of Anderson's wry but thoughtful humor.  Beyond the story's wacky exterior, there's a strong focus on the characters and their experiences which really drives the movie home to the viewer. I strongly recommend it!

I'd write more about it, but I'm kinda tired and my back is absolutely killing me. D: For some reason, my shoulder hurts like a bitch...

[info]elina_kivimaki tagged me in her latest journal. This means I must state eight random facts about myself, while tagging eight other people to do the same. So without any further ado...

#1. Right now, I am trying to finish a Flash animation that was due last week. It features a scene from The Adventure of the Speckled Band.
#2. I hate it when people think I can't handle a little smut.
#3. If I had to decide, my current top favorite food is the #14 with no tomatoes (occasionally extra mayo) from Jimmy John's.
#4. I've never had a boyfriend. (I don't think the one from kindergarten counts...)
#5. I know how to play the trumpet, but one of my greatest fears is having to play it alone in front of an audience.
#6. The scars on my body include several from my cat, one from a pair of scissor handles, and two from running into a fence pole when I was four.
#7. I am extremely close to my older brother and younger sister. I consider them my best friends.
#8. I have many spiritual and metaphysical beliefs, but I still am a very firm supporter of science.

There you have it! The comrades I choose to tag are [info]bouncy_b_britt, [info]laurazel, [info]lemon_vampire, [info]myv_myv, and... uhhh... that's it. Those are all the friends I can tag. If any of you are reading this, do the eight random facts about yourself, then make eight other people do the same.

On a side note, remind me to talk about my Anime Central tales later after I'm done with this god forsaken animation.

I drew a picture. With House and Wilson. Yaaaay.

So I made my schedule for next semester. It sucks ass, and there's nothing  I can do about it. D:< I am really upset right now. (I was actually crying about it, but that could be because my blood sugar is all fucked up...*) It would all be better if I could have a car next fall...

At least the weather was nice today. My professor was sick, so I took the opportunity to walk around outside, buy a Gorrilaz CD, and hang out with my friend. It was pretty sweet, and it seems like it'll only get better this weekend. Maybe I'll finally be able to ride my bike!

Does anyone know how I can make some mad bucks in the course of two or three weeks (without becoming a prosititute or a hitman)? Anime convention is around the corner, and I'm dead broke.

* I don't eat very much these days. :(

This is the sort of thing that first comes to my mind when I wake up in the middle of the night.

Actually, that reminds me. I had some freaky-ass dreams last night. The first one concerned House. He had a rather... disturbing... medical problem that caused him to go insane and make out with Wilson. (Don't get me wrong, folks. I'm dead convinced they're gay for each other, and I'd pay good money to see them go at it.) It was really weird, but I had to wake up to pee.

I went back to sleep again, and I dreamt I was trapped in a city that was a combination of San Fransisco and L.A., and it was rapidly getting flooded by a deadly acid that instantly killed all it touched. My reaction was to flee to the grocery store and steal some GBA games. Then, I had a mission to transport a minature puppy to PetsMart, but while doing so, I drove my car off a poorly-designed highway and crashed. Then, the car radio proclaimed that I could collect a $2 million settlement from the city.

I blame all this crazy shit on all the Flash Tub cartoons I watched before bed.

Today, I watched the episode of House from last week. Ever since I saw that episode's preview two weeks ago, I was literally upset that House took the trip with Cuddy and not Wilson. :( But I was relieved to see all that Wilson got to do in the show while House was away pulling a Black Jack on an airplane. So it was all cool.

Hey, guys, what's up? I've finally decided to make a LJ account. This whole blogging thing is kinda foreign to me, so please bear with me. Here goes!

Yesterday, while watching the morning news, I found out that Daft Punk is going to perform at Lollapalooza this August. immediately upon hearing this, I literally ran back and forth between rooms, going "AAAAAAAA! Daft Punk! Daft Punk! Robots! Here in Chicago! AAAAAAAAA!" Needless to say, Daft Punk is one of my top favoritest band-type thingies. (Just take a look at my overall top artists listened to at my last.fm account.)

Later that day, I was elated to find out that Muse is also going to be there. Holiest of fucks! Two of my most beloved bands are going to be in one place this summer!

I need a freakin' job.
